No Reality Music is thrilled to announce the release of 'Borders,' a captivating EP by the talented artist Jack South. With influences from the worlds of Dune, Tibetan spirituality, and personal experiences, 'Borders' delivers a compelling fusion of melancholic drum and bass that pushes boundaries and immerses listeners in a unique sonic journey.

Featuring four meticulously crafted tracks—'Sareer,' 'Step Plate,' 'Aranciata,' and 'Codeine'—'Borders' showcases Jack South's exceptional production skills and his ability to create evocative narratives through music. Each track offers a distinct perspective, combining intricate tonal textures, mesmerising vocal samples, and compelling metallic elements.

'Sareer,' inspired by the legendary desert planet Arakkis from the Dune universe, draws from the atmospheric work of Zimmer on the recent Dune remake. With its hypnotic melodies and immersive soundscape, 'Sareer' transports listeners to the vast and mysterious landscapes of deserts.

‘Step Plate’ continues the journey throughout the EP as a mysterious and progressive roller filled with suspense and filtered stabs tumbling over rolling breaks and a heavy bassline that helps you step through the dance, sonically guiding you through the darkened alleys and smoke of the nightclub. Mystical pads and clouds of fog break through as this unassuming track gets your feet moving.

'Aranciata' weaves an enchanting tapestry by integrating samples sourced from the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Jack South expertly combines descriptions of negative spirits, resulting in a track that captivates the listener's imagination taking them on a spiritual journey.

The EP takes a personal turn with 'Codeine,' a track that emerged from a challenging period of hospitalisation. It pays homage to the influential drummer Stubblefield by incorporating live drums, infusing the track with a nostalgic touch. Additionally, old rave stabs lead the way, accompanied by an expanded break pattern that introduces a halftime twist to the 170 track, subtly acknowledging Stubblefield's roots.

Jack South, a passionate DJ and connoisseur of experimental breaks and futuristic soundscapes, has become an integral part of the drum and bass scene. From his early explorations in the ’94 bandwagon to his current role as one half of Rum and Bass Sessions on Life FM, Jack South's musical journey has been shaped by a diverse palette of influences ranging from hip hop and metal to dub and ambient. His dedication to honing his craft has led to the creation of a distinct and uncompromising sound that resonates with audiences worldwide.

'Borders' is a testament to Jack South's artistry and musical vision. This EP is a must-listen for fans of dark drum and bass, as it pushes the boundaries of the genre and invites listeners to explore uncharted territories.
